Historical Growth of the Population
The population of Impasugong is constantly increasing since 1918 up to the present. Its highest growth rate was registered in 1975 census which is 5.37% and the lowest was in 1948 with only 0.55%. The highest growth rate was experienced with the coming in of multi-national company and agri-business ventures where employment opportunities are also high. During this period,people from other areas were attracted of the vast, fertile land of Impasugong and so, many opted to settle in the area.
With the rate the municipality is growing at present the population will increase by 70% after ten years.
Population by Barangay
Based on the 2007 census on population, most of the people are living in the rural areas but in terms of percentage Poblacion which is the urban center has the biggest with 23% of the total population. The result also showed that females are dominant compared to male populace which is only 48% of the total population.
Population by Age Group
The productive population or the working age group which is within the 15-64 years old bracket comprises 53.80 percent of the total count.
Of the total population as illustrated in Table 2, the child and youth age group (0-14 years old) comprises about 43.80 percent while the older population on the other hand (65 years old and above) comprises 2.40 percent of the population with a total of 46.20%. This composes the total age dependency ratio.
It is estimated that after ten years the dependency ratio will decrease from 46.20% to 38%.
Urban-Rural Population Density
The municipality is sparsely populated based on the total municipal land area of 1,071.67 square kilometers which is only 37 persons per sq. kilometer. As to the distribution the urban area has 275 persons per square kilometer which is very much lower compared to the urban density standard of 500 persons per hectare or 500,000 persons per square kilometers. For the rural barangays the density is 24 persons per square kilometers while urbanizing barangays is 44 persons per square kilometers.
It is projected that in 2019 the urban density will be 410 persons per square kilometer which is still lower compared to the urban density standard. For the urbanizing barangay the density is 65.34 and for rural barangays the density is only 35 persons per square kilometer. As expected the most densely populated barangay is Barangay Poblacion.
If the density will be computed based on the alienable and disposable lands of the municipality the density is 21 persons per square kilometers and after 10 years the density will go up to 32 persons per square kilometer but still the municipality will be sparsely populated.
